Anime: Kamisama Kazoku 3va4e

Take a generic god, some helpers (angels in this case), the eternal fight between heaven and hell, insert a little harem-flavoured spice and mix it slowly over a medium flame until the occasional slapstick comedy begins to float on top.

Animation
Let's start with the character design. Well, of course there aren't enough Anime out there featuring couples with red/blue hair fitting together like fire and ice. And let's not forget the eyes. After Sailor Moon and Attack No.1 the audience literally craves for expressionless eyes that neatly match the colour of the characters hair.</sarcasm>
Ok, let's get back to the facts. To squeeze the above into one clear sentence: The character design lacks individuality which makes the characters seem a little dull (but which is mostly made up by other things that will be mentioned later).
The character motions are somewhere between average quality and slightly below. There are (quite a few) scenes where you have the impression you could see every single frame (because some frames between where just copied to make the scene a little bit "slower" and not drawn individually).
Background images are ok but nothing special. There is not much to say here but that they are of average quality.

Sound
The opening song "Brand New Morning" sounds like a typical J-Pop song: fast beats and an electronic sound.
The ending song "Toshokan dewa Oshiete Kurenai, Tenshi no Himitsu" is a little bit slower and softer but as less memorable as the opening.
The background soundtrack features some tracks which caught my attention. But apart from those two or three tracks there was nothing worty of notice.
Voice action was ok but average. Right at the beginning I first thought, that there were some scenes that showed much more emotions in picture than you could hear.

Story
Samatarou and Tenko, both of the Kamiyama household, were brought up as siblings, though they know that Tenkos parents are some people else. They go to the same high school and wherever Samatarou goes Tenko follows... because she's his guardian angel. But its not like Samatarou was just your ordinary neighbour: he is the son of god (which does not include any hint of any religion). But even if he is a god-in-training he has yet to develop his powers and thus Tenko must stay at his side. But one day a transfer student arrives, for just three days, and steals his heart. And if it wasn't enough that he has to deal with new and unknown emotions and a jealous Tenko, his father (as mentioned: god), his older sister Misa and the youngest sister Meme just have to butt in at every opportunity to make the situation worse.
The story begins in an interesting way and features some funny developments and slapstick situations, but isn't very original and the end is of the try-to-talk-and-if-it-fails-we-resort-to-some-looney-action-which-will-let-everything-work-out-right kind.

Character
Kamiyama Samatarou is the son of god. He is used to being pampered by his parents and his sisters but soon develops the urge to take his life into his own hands.
Kamiyama Tenko was found outside of the hospital at the day of Samatarous birth. She was then brought up as his guardian angel and takes this duty very serious. So serious that it sometimes seems more than a duty to her.
Komori Kumiko is new transfer student who sadly can only stay for three days before travelling along to Osaka. She is a little less shy than she seems at first glance. She's interested in Samatarou but for reasons which begin to clear up around the time when it becomes obvious who she really is.
Kamiyama Osamu, more prominently known as God, is the father of Samatarou and his sisters and a loving husband. He is devoted to his job which makes his wife a little bit lonely sometimes. But when he is around laugh-out-loud situations are guaranteed.
Kamiyama Venus is the only character who can be connected to a certain religion (because of her name). She likes to cheer up (or at least tries to do so) her son by performing stunts in embarrassing outfits.
Kamiyama Misa is the oldest sister, has good brains (though she doesn't often show it) and likes to play with her little brother (not together but she sees him as a toy). She often participates in the stunts of her mother.
Kamiyama Meme is the youngest child and what you would call a gothic lolitha. She seems very quiet and cool which makes her participations in the aforementioned stunts look really absurd.
Some characters show original traits (like Tenko giving of steam from her head when she is jealous or embarrassed). But overall they seem like a bunch of people who originate from a game rather than a Manga (though it is the latter).

Value
I don't think that there's anything to learn from watching Kamisama Kazoku. It's a nice pastime but that's all.

Enjoyment
In some episodes I really looked to see how much longer it will consume my time (and as a personal note at a backward glance I would have enjoyed rewatching Serial Experiments Lain for the third time more than this) but there were funny and interesting scenes as well which makes it hard to condemn it whole. If you are a little bit tired from only watching long and/or highly original series you could give it a try.

Before I begin: I'm german and so please forgive my bad englisch.[br][br]Animation: First to say is that I'm easy to please with Animation. As long the Characters don't have square Heads or other obvious features, I'm satisfied. [br]Kamisame Kazoku is one of the plain normal Animes. No fantastic special Effects or overall Animation like in Gundamm 00. [br][br]Sound: Noticable BGM are in Kamisame Kazoke missing. Not really a down, brcause scences for it were also missing. The Opening and Ending songs dindn't really catch my ear. They weren't bad, but not worth hearing more than 5 times, as I skipped them later.[br][br]Story: The Story was a simple love story, added with the comedy factor of god and goddess powers. The main reason for contuining watching was the ridiculous behavoir of the family. For the romance part I'm rather disappointed for as their is no progress whatsoever. Whereas in other Animes the main character is aware of is love but unable to express, in Kamisama Kazoku there is not even the attempt to solve the love problems until the very very end.[br][br]Character: A big miss in my opinion is that all Characters miss the thougth to try to change their situation. If per chance a progress is made, before the last episode, the characters have forgotten it in the next episode or even after a few minutes. Samatarou is even more indecisive as a normal guy in a love triangel show.[br][br]Value: I would not rewatch this Anime. But I was glad that i watched it. It was a funny Story, but that is all about the Story. If your are looking for a good love story then you better leave your hands off this one, because it rather focus on the comedy part and being a god, instead on the progress of improving the relationships. For a comedy Anime it is really worth watching once if you have free time.[br][br]Enjoyment: Due to the families behavior, I found the Anime worth watching. The teasing of Samatarou kept me watching. The strange no-doing-behavior, as mentioned in section Character, decreased the enyoment. [br]

Another one of those anime I got plainly because of the title, to tell you the truth. I don't regret watching it though, unlike FMA.

Coming from TOEI, I found Animation and drawing quality quite poor. Color usage and drawing of characters were something unexpected. Facial proportions were way off at times and certain things the way it was drawn was not very Toei-like. I was bit disappointed.

But soundwork made up alot, and I kept on because of the interesting plot. And to me they just keep cutting it off at good places. I wish it was bit longer and had more detail, but that's foolish wish.
I love opening theme and the original soundwork, espically the orgel/angel music box's. It is quite enjoyable, seeing how son of God acts like human, because he was living as human, but seeing him mature is like seeing many of the characters mature. I enjoyed it alot, but I still wish there was a sequel, as I said so now.

If you like little fantasy in your life, not a lot, maybe this is just a thing for you. You might get let down by poor drawing (and I mean it), but you probably won't regret watching it.

Let us begin then...

Animation: One would find that the animation here is quite nice, very light and colourful, vivid and beautiful. Not something you would normally find. Of course at some parts I noticed reuse of frames once or twice, but that is nothing to hate as everyone tries to save time.

Sound: I found the opening song very fitting to the anime itself, and the pictures being shown while the song is being played, I couldn't exactly think the same for the ending song, as it has a certain tune to it that is rather different from the starting, not as good in my opinion.

Story: A god family, not something you see an anime being made on everyday, ( *cough* Naruto *cough*) anyways, I found the story interesting, it may not be the MOST original of all, but it is at least something you don't hear regularly, especially the way it is put in this world is rather nice, but the main topic in the story is somewhat common.

Character: I find all the characters unique in their own way, but of course some may seem to be somewhat common, but the way they are presented ( as I state a lot ) is very well done.

One would find that this anime is not one to miss, especially if one is such a fan of fantasy in the modern world, for you won't find yourself getting tired of watching it, waiting for a good part in any single part of this anime!
