A short called "Furiko" (or "Pendulum"), that was featured on Japanese variety show.

The anime was drawn by the Japanese comedian Tekken (鉄拳), who named himself after the fighting game.

The short was later adapted into the official music video for the song used in the short, "Exogenesis Part 3 (Redemption)" by Muse, and was extended to meet the full length of the song.

Every episode included a five-minute story segment that showcased the prefecture in spring, summer, fall, or winter. Following each story, a two-minute explanation segment included instructions on how to travel to featured areas from Tokyo by train.

Episodes included the love story Sakura no Omoide, the gag comedy story Saitama Koukou Housou-bu ~Natsu no Kankou Annai~, the fantasy story Yuusha Higan to Hime-sama no Bouken, and the family story Winter Sweet Home. The anime's four episodes available in Japanese with subtitles in Japanese, English, Chinese (traditional and simplifed), Korean, and French. Eight people living or working in Saitama were selected from 223 applicants to voice act in the series.

Seikyou Private School is a facility that accommodates both junior and senior high school students. Sixty years of ongoing renovations and expansions have meant most of the old inner structures have been sealed and abandoned. With the existence of such a maze-like building, it is only natural that rumours of the paranormal would appear.

One day first-year middle school student Kanoe Yuuko, a mysterious girl with raven black, long silky hair and a tall and slender figure, who introduces herself as the ghost of the old school building. For some reason Niiya is the only one able to see this spirit and she herself does not have any recollection of the reasons or time of her death, nor any lingering feelings about life itself. Curious about the circumstances of her death the two create a paranormal investigation club and seek to find out the truth about it and the many other mysteries surrounding the school.

During an age when public entertainment was outlawed, an idol group holds guerilla concerts without any concern for their own safety.

In the beginning of the 21st century, a world war broke out. In its aftermath the Earth's ecosystem was irrecoverably affected, and there was no choice but to escape the now devastated Earth to live in space. A new era began with the Star Calendar 0000. Shortly afterwards entertainment was prohibited by law and the sacred place for otaku, Akihabara, became the public entertainment's final line of defence and the only place to perform.

In Star Calendar 0048 once more a group was formed in the hope to resume the legacy of the legendary idol act AKB48, which continued to shine even during the Earth's downfall. With the law in place they were deemed as an illegal act and unable to hold official live events. This is when the group's concept changed. Instead of the idols you can meet they became the idols who come to meet you. Branded as terrorists by the authorities they did not give up and decided to take up arms to protect the stage they stand on, for their fans.

The name of these girls who succeeded the famous name and fight for the freedom of entertainment is... AKB0048.

Holding up her portable device, an augmented reality view is shown, pointing to the next safe exit from the shopping mall. A call from her mother tells Mako of her father's breakdown...
