* What I mean? Probably - music played during both shows ...can change in character. Music performed with big variety, not just used some old record and random exclamations of personages as probably in most of music-anime cases.
** Simplier - music here feels very "LIVE", like in Nodame Cantabile.

* Based on a music shounen manga by Ragawa Marimo.
Shamisen is a traditional Japanese musical instrument that looks similar to a guitar. Teenager Sawamura Setsu's grandfather who raised him and his older brother Wakana, recently ed away. His grandfather was one of the greatest Shamisen players and the two siblings grew up listening to him play and learning to play the instrument. Since the grandfather's death, Setsu dropped out of high school, moved to Tokyo and has been drifting, not knowing what to do besides play his Shamisen. That's when his successful and rich mother, Umeko storms into his life and tries to shape Setsu up.
She enrolls him back into high school but little does Setsu know that he is about to rediscover his ion for Shamisen.

If you enjoy music-themed anime, this one is worth checking out. While it's not bad, don't set your expectations too high. The series boasts a large cast of characters, but unfortunately, their development is somewhat lacking. To get a deeper understanding of the story and characters, reading the manga might be necessary to fill in the gaps.

I love music Anime that allows me to just close my eyes and hear the performance with minimal interruption or VAs talking over it. This is an excellent show if you're interested in traditional Japanese music. The drama, on the other hand, is pretty forgettable despite ending in an uncommon way and teaching an important lesson about expression.
Oh, right... the ending of the first episode is designed to confuse the crap out of you, but I assure you the surprise introduction is exonerated by the events of the next episode. You should watch the first two before deciding how you feel about it.
