The year is 2087, and the Solar System is engulfed in the flames of war. Claiming that their goal is to bring about a "rebirth" of Earth's humans, the United Lunar Empire Giganos seeks to establish a new order in the Solar System by waging war on the Earth Federation Military. Their superior organization and technology has given them a huge advantage over the nations of the Earth, to the point where they have gained control of 70% of the Earth's surface. Three military students of the Space Station Alucard learn of the Imperial Army's (ULEGiganos) shooting of a refugee ship outside their cargo holds. They go to investigate, and find a secret special Mecha armor that they commandeer. They then, against all odds, defeat the first raid on the Space Station Alucard. This does not, however, prevent it's total destruction by an asteroid launched by the insidious ULEGiganos military.

Part of the recovery is due to the recent advancement in Boomer technology. Boomers are androids that look, think, and act almost like human beings. They can be put to work, perform as soldiers in the military, or mysteriously go berserk and terrorise the population.

The corporation responsible for all the major Boomer advancements is a monolithic company called GENOM. But GENOM has a rather underhanded secret agenda — to take over the world. With the world dependent on Boomer technology, there does not seem to be much that can stand in GENOM's way.

Only a mercenary team of four young women, the Knight Sabers, equipped with hardsuits, have the courage and the firepower to stand up to rampaging Boomers and the company behind them.

Though this movie was released as part of Toei's Manga Matsuri, it was actually animated by Maruyama Masao doing layout). Completed in 1984, this film was shelved for three years before being theatrically released, during which time rumours spread about it being a lost masterpiece. Although overall the film is hardly a masterpiece, in of visuals alone it certainly is. It has some of the most ornate animation and creative design work of any contemporary anime movie.
